Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Attend design and requirement meetings for assigned projects.

  • Review project specifications to ensure completeness, consistency and correlation with corporate policies and procedures, and suggest alternatives.

  • Perform user acceptance, exploration and regression testing of the functionality of all SCIC systems and programsto align with business expectations.

  • Ensure business priorities and risks are considered in all testing activities, and utilize cross functional collaboration to achieve set goals

  • Communicate identified risks when implementing system changes/enhancements and suggest mitigation alternatives to various teams and stakeholders.

  • Through an analytical approach, prepare, review, document, set up and maintain detailed test plans, detailed test criteria and data that conform to the corporate project life cycle standards using Azure devops.

  • Provide time estimates for the testing phase of projects and identify conflicting priorities.

  • Execute the test plan and confirm results (printed, displayed, stored) for completeness, accuracy, and ease of use.

  • Identify, record and distribute problem logs.

  • Prepare and review written procedures and work around documents to ensure system capabilities comply with the policies and procedures of the SCIC programs.

  • Review and approve the initial production run for various projects.

  • Respond to Service Desk Technicians, Managers, Other business units and end users regarding inquiries, and recommend solutions.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the corporate programs and systems.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position you will have a diploma in Information Technology, Business or Agriculture with at least two years’ experience in software testing or quality assurance OR completion of Grade 12 and at least four years’ working with SCIC’s core systems and processes, along with an understanding of software testing practices and methodologies.  An understanding of modern agriculture practices is an asset.

  • Knowledge of corporate programs and the associated computer applications. Core systems include AS400, Ceres and CAS.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze implications and make recommendations to resolve system issues affecting end users.

  • Ability to interpret system specifications and develop testing criteria and plans.

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex verbal and written direction/information and communicate that information to audiences with varying knowledge levels.

  • Organizational skills to meet deadlines, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Experience with computer applications, specifically databases, Test Management tools, Microsoft Office Suite.

Conditions:

  • A criminal record check is required.

  • Should the successful candidate participate in the Crop Insurance or AgriStability Programs, their account must be in good standing.
