Federation Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for a Trainee Information Technology (IT) position, based in Corowa. This is a fantastic full-time, two-year traineeship, offering an entry point into the dynamic world of Local Government IT.

What You Will Gain

Complete a Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Develop foundational knowledge of essential local government technology systems.

About The Role

You will be a vital part of the team, supporting day-to-day operations and building your technical skills. Your core focus areas will be:

Traineeship Success (Core Focus): Actively participate in all vocational training and complete formal assessments to achieve your qualification.

Technical Support: Assist with technical support to Council employees for IT issues in logging, tracking, and managing support requests using our helpdesk system.

Troubleshooting: Assist with basic troubleshooting of hardware (PCs, laptops, printers) and software (Google Workplace, Council-specific systems).

Systems Assistance: Help with the setup and deployment of new equipment and assist with user account management (like password resets).

Documentation: Contribute to the creation of IT documentation and 'how-to' guides for staff.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. Trainee wages will apply.

Important eligibility information for traineeship and apprenticeships

To be eligible for this traineeship, you must be 15 years or older, no longer at school, and an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen.

Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications

Minimum completion of year 11 or equivalent skills gained through previous work experience.

Hold a current and valid class "C" driver's licence or Provisional licence.

Demonstrate a genuine interest in undertaking a Traineeship in IT with the dedication to complete the nationally recognised training qualification.

Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly, patient, and professional manner when dealing with people of varying technical abilities.

Demonstrated ability to manage time, organise tasks, and maintain accurate records (e.g., using a helpdesk system).
