What does a successful Mainframe Engineering Director do at Fiserv?
As a Mainframe Engineering Director at Fiserv, you will be an individual contributor, leading the technical direction and strategy of our mainframe environment, aligning with Fiserv’s mission of providing innovative financial technology solutions. Leveraging your expertise, you will ensure the design, development, and implementation of mainframe applications meet our business goals, while promoting best practices and driving continuous improvement within the development team.
What you will do:
Provide leadership and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of software applications to support Fiserv's business goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Perform advanced coding, testing, and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain and improve existing codebases and lead peer review processes.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers and team members.
Drive innovation and best practices within the software development team.

What you will need to have:
13+ years of experience in large-scale IT system development, hands-on software development experience designing, writing, debugging, and testing.
13+ years of experience in mainframe technology including MVS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, and MQ that support large payment processors.
13+ years of experience in the financial industry, especially with mainframe experience with a financial payments platform or similar.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen, advise, empathize, and explain to varied audiences, at all levels.
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to see the connections between layers of business operations.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
What would be great to have:
Technical experience in DB2 and relational databases.
Experience in Java or similar development.
