Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Appraises technological developments and investigates the feasibility of applying new techniques and processes to the organization. Prepares cost estimates and written technical proposals.
Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications. Pilots prototypes and scale-up prototypes to test for manufacturing and quality issues.
Creates automation and machine design requirements including 3D drawing design, wiring, programming, safety features and sourcing. Troubleshoots and diagnoses design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies to proactively recommend revisions and/or improvements.
Troubleshoots legacy processes and equipment and works with Maintenance, IT and Quality Engineering to support processes.
Collaborates with other process engineers and/or departments to work on assigned steps of departmental or organizational projects.
Creates and updates documentation specifying equipment requirements, verifying and validating performance and detailing instructions for operation, maintenance and repair. Collaborates with other engineering professionals to improve standards for assembly to ensure and promote defect-free processes.
Utilizes standard software programs or writes custom programs to automate data capture and analyzes data to optimize and smooth performance levels.
Composes test and technical reports and other presentations and presents to management.
Analyzes current processes, procedures and systems and makes recommendations for improvement for own job.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2-5 years of relevant experience required
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or other engineering or related field required
Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent presentation skills
Strong customer service skills with an ability to approach every business relationship as a partnership
Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to address customer issues and partner on resolutions
Strong analytical skills with an ability to independently evaluate and develop innovative solutions to complex situations, applying knowledge of specialty area and use of sound judgement
Strong negotiation skills and an ability to resolve situations while making a point firmly and seeking a positive outcome for both sides
In-depth understanding and demonstrated competency in working with computer software and mainframe applications to manipulate, analyze and reconcile data
Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD and other engineering software and databases
Ability to create, read and modify product prints
Intermediate knowledge of concepts used in Toyota TPS, DENSO TIE and lean manufacturing (Kanban, Kaizen, Jidoka, JIT, Heijunka, Gemba and others)
Fundamental knowledge of welding, plating, die-casting, injection molding, stamping/cold forming, heat treatment process, fastener torque and other related skills
Ability to effectively apply the PDCA process to identify potential process improvements
Good project management skills
Kaizen mindset
Ability to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in solving problems in a timely manner
Ability to transfer skills and knowledge to less experienced personnel

Annual Salary: $81,200 - $101,700
