Your Role And Responsibilities

Administer, monitor, and maintain Netezza / PureData systems in production and non-production environments.

Perform daily health checks, capacity management, backup, and recovery operations.

Manage and tune system performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply optimizations.

Plan and execute software upgrades, patches, and firmware updates.

Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.

Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting and other tools.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and data engineering teams for deployment and performance optimization.

Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support production systems.

Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and operational procedures.

Support database migrations and integration projects involving multiple database platforms.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

Strong hands-on experience with IBM Netezza / PureData administration and troubleshooting.

Proficient in Linux system administration and shell scripting (bash/ksh).

Strong understanding of database concepts, performance tuning, and query optimization.

Experience with backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.

Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Experience in working in mission-critical 24/7 environments.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Exposure to other database technologies such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc.

Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., DataStage, Informatica) and data warehousing concepts.

Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Nagios, OEM, or similar).

Experience in scripting or automation frameworks (Python, Ansible, etc.) is a plus.
