Job Description
Experienced Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer with Systems Analyst Capabilities – Mainframe Engineering to support and enhance our enterprise mainframe environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in z/OS-based systems, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to serve as a Scrum Master supporting Agile delivery for mainframe initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with application development teams, infrastructure partners, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance, effective integration, and continuous improvement of mainframe platforms.
What You’ll Do:
Run & Support Mainframe Operations
Provide systems analysis and engineering support for mainframe environments, including z/OS, JCL, batch and online processing.
Manage and support system software installation and maintenance using SMP/E.
Monitor and analyze system performance using appropriate mainframe performance monitoring tools, identifying and resolving performance and capacity issues.
Collaborate with application development teams to troubleshoot and resolve system integration issues, ensuring stable and efficient application execution.
Serve as Scrum Master for mainframe projects, coaching and guiding teams on Agile and Scrum best practices.
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives) and remove impediments to support team delivery.
Mentor team members to improve understanding and adoption of the Scrum framework and Agile processes within a mainframe context.
Promote continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability across Agile mainframe initiatives.
What You'll Bring:
Strong understanding of mainframe environments, including z/OS, JCL, batch and online processing.
Hands-on experience with SMP/E and system-level maintenance activities.
Experience using mainframe performance and monitoring tools.
Proven ability to work with application developers to resolve system integration and performance challenges.
Experience acting as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment, preferably supporting mainframe or infrastructure projects.
Strong communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills.
Clear, concise communication skills and ability to work effectively with application teams, DBAs, schedulers, and infrastructure engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise mainframe platforms.
Knowledge of Agile transformation within infrastructure or legacy technology environments.
Relevant certifications (e.g., SAFe, CSM, PSM, or equivalent) are a plus.
Working Model
Hybrid role based in New York, NY, with regular on-site collaboration for planning, release events, and key change windows. Participation in an on-call rotation for critical mainframe periods (month-end, quarter-end, year-end, and major releases) is expected.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $90,000-$128,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
