Job Description
Monitor the activity of the AS/400 Operating System, as well as operate the peripheral equipment
Control and monitor the operation of the computer system through a central console by directing the operation of computer to execute programs and observe the operation to detect error or failure in progress
Maintain the operating system and network
Perform tasks required to maintain the system components in a ready status for all designated uses
Interact with data processing staff, monitor work flow, determine that all jobs are processed and valid output is produced in the production and test environment
Direct output between printers to ensure the timely generation of simultaneous work products
Maintain operating logs and document all hardware and software failures and routine services
Operate printers, tape drives and related controllers in the performance of data processing
Clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment as prescribed by vendor or manufacture
Maintain tape library to include issuing, pulling and filing tapes as necessary
* Prepare and rotate tapes to off-site location
* Respond to visual and audible alarms
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 18 years of age
Must have basic understanding of AS/400
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Good communication skills
May be assigned 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Rotating Shifts
Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy
Must be able to get along with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a sitting stationary position for extended periods of time
Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
