Job Description
The DB2 and IMS platforms are critical components of the overall Claims processing within UHC. The job will span across both DB2 and IMS platforms. A zSystems DBA is a support person for the zSystems DB2/IMS applications. The role includes performing tasks focusing on stability and the performance of both the applications and the DB2/IMS system. The DBA consults, supports, and plans with the application teams regarding the execution and deployment of all changes. Application deployments involve off-hour work, including nights and weekends. Regarding proactive analysis of database concerns, the DBA is an application resource. Part of the DBA role is providing on-call support (rotating), incident queue, and batch abend support for DBA jobs.
Requirements
zSystems DB2/IMS DBA minimum skills
7 + years of IBM hardware and software. (z/OS, IMS, CICS, z/OS DB2, RACF, BMC Mainview, BMC Change Manager and Catalog Manager, QMF, Spufi)
7 + years of working with IBM utilities, JCL, access methods, and file structures
7 + years of programming languages such as REXX, COBOL, and C-list
7 + years of SQL experience
5 + years of working with DB2 Database Objects (as a Developer or DBA)
5 + years of DB2 Application Design and/or DB2 Development
5 + years of working with DB2 utilities (BMC and/or IBM)
Knowledge of Replication desirable.
Programming languages such as REXX, COBOL, PYTHON, and C-list are desirable
Experience with Db2 V13 is desirable
Basic knowledge of Workload Manager (WLM) usage and maintenance · Knowledge of system monitoring and performance tuning for computer operations, programming staff, and end users
Basic knowledge of access and security administration, as related to and implemented in DB2
Experience resolving complex problems logically and methodically, and good judgment to involve and communicate with vendors, internal teams and management
Ability to determine architectural and design best practices and guide proper use of new features. Using AI to create and maintain documentation, including schema diagrams, data dictionaries, and table/column descriptions.
Ability to work without supervision
Ability to use AI tools to analyze capacity planning data and provide recommendations and implement solutions.
Ability to use M365 Copilot AI to recap meetings and draft emails
Ability to stay educated in the role of AI for a Db2 DBA.
