At PwC - AC, as a COBOL Modernization Manager, you will serve as a technical leader and architect on modernization projects. You will interact with the Onshore project leadership to understand requirements and will be responsible for designing and leading end-to-end implementation of COBOL modernization solutions. You should have strong experience in modernization approaches, tooling, and modern technology stacks, along with strong planning and organization skills. You will work as a technical architect/lead on an agile team, providing guidance to development teams and routinely monitoring modernization initiatives to ensure that all business goals are met per business requirements.
Years of Experience: Candidates with 8-12 years of hands-on experience
Required Skills
Deep expertise in COBOL and comprehensive understanding of mainframe/midrange architectures
Strong knowledge of modernization approaches including rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, and rewriting.
Experience with modernization tools and platforms (e.g., Micro Focus, AWS BluAge, AI-accelerated conversion, or similar)
Proven ability to lead technical implementations and architect modernization solutions
Strong knowledge of legacy database and storage technologies including DB2, IMS, and VSAM with migration experience
Experience with both mainframe (z/OS, JCL, CICS, IMS) and midrange (AS/400, RPG) platforms
Expertise in modern cloud-first technology stacks and cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience designing microservices architectures and API-based integration patterns
Proficiency in modern programming languages (Java, C#, Python, Node.js)
Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with agile methodologies and leading technical teams
Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to mentor and guide junior team members
Professional And Educational Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from reputed institute(s) with relevant knowledge in computer science, information technology, or related discipline.
