What you will be doing
We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer. This role will require you to provide support and maintenance for legacy COBOL application while contributing to the enhancements in C#. You will collaborate closely with other developers and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
This role is Adelaide based. There is a permanent position, with a requirement for after-hours support on a rotational basis. You'll be at the core of our application team, supporting and making development enhancements and fixes to our business-critical application using COBOL and C#.
What will keep you busy
Provide support for existing COBOL-based legacy system with C# components, including troubleshooting, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
Enhancements and fixes to enterprise-level application using Cobol and C#.
Provide batch job support and assist in resolving production issues, providing on-call or after-hours support when needed.
Collaborate with team members and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions along with estimating effort required.
Manage day to day Support tickets including requests and Incidents.
Manage time by working on support activities, minor enhancements and projects.
Ensure Best Practices in code quality, unit testing, and deployment.
Perform software installation, upgrades and patching on a Windows Server environment.
Investigate security vulnerability impacts and support remediation plans.
Become proficient in understanding the application architecture.
The skills you will bring
4+ years of experience in Cobol development (ideally with Micro Focus COBOL).
Proficient in C# and API development.
Proficient in PowerShell scripting.
Experience with software development in Visual Studio.
Proficient in using source control systems like TFS / Azure Devops Server and Git.
SQL Server experience (desired).
Familiar with Windows Server administration, including managing services, tasks, and IIS. Experience with SSL certificate management.
Active MQ experience (desired)
Deep understanding and experience with full Software delivery lifecycle including software design patterns & principles. Using Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issues.
Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Great customer service and communication skills.
