Cobol Developer
Job Description
You will join a technology team responsible for supporting enterprise mainframe applications that power Fiserv’s core financial services platforms. In this role, you will apply deep technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance in a fast-paced, SLA-driven production environment.
What you’ll do:
Modify, test, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL (DB2), and CICS in an IBM z/OS environment.
Review application designs and source code to assist with testing, debugging, and production readiness.
Code and test high-priority and critical changes in support of business and operational requirements.
Perform performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications to maintain stability and efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including root cause analysis and defect correction.
Collaborate with remote and cross-functional team members to deliver reliable application support.
Provide regular project and task status updates to project managers and related stakeholders.
Create and maintain technical and operational documentation to support ongoing application maintenance.

Experience you’ll need to have:
6+ years of software development experience.
Hands-on experience in an IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environment.
Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
Experience deploying fixes in SLA-driven production environments.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Experience in creating technical documentation.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
DB2 utilities, IDCAMS, SyncSort, File-Master, CICS.
FTP / NDM file transmission.
REXX, Endevor, Clarity, Jira.
Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint.
How you’ll work:
On-call rotational support.
Use of Computer and audio equipment required.
Per contractual obligations, must be a US citizen or US Permanent Resident with the ability to obtain and maintain an extended background check.
Salary Range
$82,000.00 - $141,600.00
These pay ranges apply to employees in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, Rhode Island and Washington. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
This position is not eligible for an annual incentive opportunity and is also not eligible to earn commissions.
