This position is 100% onsite at the University of Houston- Main Campus.
Analyzes, develops and modifies complex application programs utilizing non-core, under minimal supervision. May provide support to enterprise systems. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
Codes, tests, debugs, modifies and troubleshoots application programs and ad-hoc programs in accordance with shop standards.
Analyzes complex application processes and integrated computer systems and their underlying data structures; identifies and resolves problems.
Defines, analyzes and documents business processes, practices and requirements.
Assists users in testing business processes; defines, conducts and monitors system test procedures.
Provides technical assistance and training to junior-level staff.
Documents tables, data structures, run streams, and programs according to generally accepted practices.
Develops technical documents pertaining to system design and programming requirements; develops user manuals.
Uses non-core technologies to design, code, test, debug, modify and troubleshoot systems, such as voice activated responses, electronic data interchange and web interfaces.
Learns new technologies and techniques.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Duties
Design and implement user interfaces using modern frameworks such as React or Angular
Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and services built in Python (FastAPI, Flask) and ASP.NET
Enhance existing .NET-based applications with new UX improvements and front-end integrations
Work with product owners and designers to translate UI/UX wireframes and user flows into functional, responsive code
Apply AI-driven design tools and assist in integrating AI-powered user interactions where appropriate
Ensure cross-platform compatibility, accessibility, and performance optimization
Use GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps workflows to manage development and deployment processes
Deploy and maintain web applications using Azure, AWS, or other cloud environments
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile development cycles
Preferred Skills
Strong proficiency in React, Angular, or equivalent front-end frameworks
Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and responsive design techniques
Familiarity with backend development using Python (Flask, FastAPI) and ASP.NET (C#)
Experience integrating APIs, RESTful services, and working with JSON data structures
Solid understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and design systems
Experience using Figma, Adobe XD, or other modern design tools for UI/UX prototyping
Working knowledge of GitHub, DevOps pipelines, and CI/CD automation
Familiarity with Azure and AWS deployment workflows, cloud storage, and authentication services
Experience enhancing or modernizing legacy web applications built on .NET frameworks
Understanding of AI design tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Figma AI, or similar) for accelerating development workflows
Exposure to AI/ML model integration in user interfaces (e.g., chatbot front ends, visualization dashboards, smart search interfaces)
Basic understanding of containerized development (Docker/Kubernetes)
Knowledge of web performance tuning, caching, and state management libraries (Redux, NgRx, etc.)
Strong artistic and aesthetic sense with a focus on usability and visual harmony
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across design and engineering teams
Detail-oriented mindset with passion for clean code and delightful user experiences
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
Self-motivated, innovative, and eager to explore the latest design and development tools
Portfolio Requirement
